WFCP’s Statement on Ukraine

March 26, 2022 – The WFCP Secretariat, on behalf of the WFCP Chair Dawn Ward, issued the following statement on the ongoing invasion of Ukraine:

The World Federation of Colleges and Polytechnics joins its members across the world in condemning Russia’s ongoing invasion of Ukraine and voicing our support for Ukraine, its people, and their right to choose their future and remain independent.

We stand with the people of Ukraine, and all non-Ukrainians also suffering in the country. We also acknowledge the many Russian citizens around the world who are denouncing the actions of their government.

WFCP’s members have learners from both Ukraine and Russia as part of their communities. They are offering support to all individuals affected and we applaud these efforts. WFCP also notes the importance of continuity of education for all and a speedy resolution to conflict in other parts of the world.

Our thoughts and unwavering support go to the Ukrainian people. It is our hope that this conflict ends quickly, and that Ukraine continues to be a nation where freedom, democracy, and education flourish.
