Join our new Sustainable Development Goals Affinity Group

The World Federation of Colleges and Polytechnics invites you to join a new global affinity group on the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The SDG Affinity Group, in collaboration with UNESCO-UNEVOC, is chaired by CICan, and co-chaired by Technical and Further Education New South Wales (TAFE NSW) in Australia, Instituto Nacional de Capacitación Profesional (INACAP) in Chile and the Kenya Association of Technical Training Institutes (KATTI).

The vision of this Affinity Group is to advance the awareness and adoption of the SDGs as integral to TVET learning, through knowledge exchange, bridging of experiences and the creation of an engaged community of practice encompassing a diversity of views while working to embed SDG principles through the processes and practices of each institution to ensure no one is left behind. The group will focus on SDG best practices, emerging research, policies, collaborative opportunities.

The inaugural meeting will take place on February 23, 2021 at 2 PM EST. Our first guest speaker will be Charles A. Hopkins who holds the UNESCO Chair in reorienting education towards sustainability in Toronto, Canada. Hopkins is advisor to the United Nations University´s Global Network of Regional Centres of Expertise on Education for Sustainable Development and Co-Director of the Asia-Pacific Institute on Education for Sustainable Development in Beijing, China. A breakout room discussion will then follow to allow for deeper and more intimate conversations about the presentation, the SDGs and sharing opportunities.

Ongoing meetings will be held for an hour on the fourth Tuesday of every month. The exact time of each meeting will vary to accommodate circumstances. Continued conversation and engagement will occur in the UNESCO-UNEVOC TVET Forum.
