‘Cyber Security – It’s Everyone’s Business’ Webinar Launch of the New Cyber Security Affinity Group on December 8, 2020

WFCP is pleased to announce the launch of a new Affinity Group, for WFCP member and affiliate institutions, focussed on the area of Cyber Security. This vital area of business and individual on-line protection has significant and increasing importance for countries, governments, educational institutions and individuals throughout the world and this new Affinity Group will bring together like-minded educationalists to share effective practice, develop joint initiatives and ensure that the global education landscape continues to keep pace with this fast-paced area of work.

To launch this affinity group WFCP and Burton and South Derbyshire College in the UK, along with Box Hill Institute in Australia will be hosting “Cyber Security: It’s Everyone’s Business” – a webinar to engage interested institutions and individuals in membership of the Affinity Group. We have secured a panel of well renowned experts and thought leaders in the area of Cyber Security who will engage the webinar audience through giving an oversight of their own professional journeys, the latest trends in this area and how educational institutions can develop efficacy in this field. This really is an opportunity to hear from world-renowned speakers on a subject that has an ever-increasing importance to WFCP members. Can you afford to miss this opportunity?

Guest Presenter:  Rob May, Managing Director of ramsac

Rob May is an international Cybersecurity spokesperson, an alumni and Patron of WFCP member Burton and South Derbyshire College (BSDC) and a pending Fellow. He will give a short briefing on his career journey, which started at BSDC and then explain the industry challenges and why the subject of Cybersecurity is an issue that concerns us all.

Rob is an award-winning speaker and a Professional Member of the PSA. He delivers keynotes internationally and runs CEO and Director workshops for both Vistage and the Institute of Directors in the UK

He speaks as a current and very relevant expert, being Founder and Managing Director of ramsac who deliver IT and Cybersecurity services/support to a vast range of clients through a team of 70+ consultants and an alliance with international financial services company PriceWaterhouseCooper. Rob is the UK Ambassador for Cybersecurity for the Institute of Directors (where he is also a Fellow) and he is ranked No.5 in the Global rankings for Cybersecurity Thought Leaders.

His Cybersecurity TED Talk has had over 400,000 views (on both TEDx YouTube and now on TED.COM) He is a Board Advisor to The Cyber Resilience Centre for the South East and in 2020 Onalytica listed Rob in the Top Ten Cybersecurity keynote speakers worldwide.

His cybersecurity books sell on Amazon in eight countries and he successfully makes a complex yet vital subject fun, entertaining, actionable, and very relevant.

He also possesses a very strong background in developing and implementing online curriculum for both students and faculty and is the recipient of several awards in the area of innovation and teaching.

Guest presenter: Jo Cave, Head of Cyber and IT, Box Hill Institute, Australia

Jo Cave is Head of Cyber and IT at Box Hill Institute where she has taught and now leads a team of passionate Cyber Security and IT staff. Jo will talk about Cyber education and how collaboration between industry and education can address the cyber workforce challenges.

The skilled team at Box Hill Institute are driven to grow Cyber and IT education programs in Australia and work closely with industry engaging the next generation of students that move into the workforce.

In November, Jo and her team won the Australian Information Security Association (AISA) Cyber Security Educator of the Year 2020.  The national award was granted for a TAFE or university that has developed and implemented a comprehensive, flexible and easily accessible cyber security education program, which delivers industry ready graduates to the market.

Jo is extremely passionate about raising awareness of cyber. With education being imperative to industry, Jo serves as the National Program Manager for the Australian Women in Security Network (AWSN) Cadets, as well as being a member of AISA and ISACA. In addition, Jo is also the chair of the Victorian TAFE ICT Network. In 2020, Jo was nominated as a security Champion from a leading Cyber Organisation in Australia.

Jo has worked for organisations including IBM and Fujitsu for over 15 years – her knowledge of cyber awareness is extensive. Continuing a lifelong learning journey, Jo is currently completing her Master’s Degree in Cyber Security (Business Operations) at UNSW Canberra. She commenced her Master’s Degree at Latrobe University and exited with a Graduate Certificate in Cyber Operations earlier this year to then move onto UNSW. The qualification with UNSW will provide exposure to both domestic and international cyber arenas.
