Chance Favors the Prepared: Data Protection Strategies in Higher Education
Saturday, April 13: 8:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.
Presented by AACC and Educause

Not a day goes by without a news media report of a data breach. No matter the defenses employed, it seems inevitable that an information security event will happen on campus. This session will briefly explore the current state of data breaches in higher education and the threats facing campuses today, review the information security incident response process and highlight the parts of the response process that college leaders must know, and discuss data protection strategies. The purpose of the session is not to scare, but to inform participants and help them to think strategically about the information security and data privacy issues facing community colleges today.

Measuring Quality: How Can I Use Data to Improve?
Saturday, April 13: 8:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.
Presented by AACC and the Community College Research Center

This half-day session will provide community college leaders with approaches to more effectively use data to drive student success in institutional improvement efforts. Attendees will learn how to better identify achievement gaps, use early indicators to identify student populations at risk of not being successful, set appropriate improvement targets, and better evaluate the return on investment for student success initiatives. Experts in community college data use will share real-life examples and approaches the attendees will be able to use at their institutions.
