Applications for the 2016 International Youth Camp at the World Congress in Brazil are open until May 29th 2016. Participants will meet their peers from around the world, visit local institutions in the province of Espírito Santo, participate in cultural activities, attend the World Congress, and take part in discussions framed by the Sustainable Development Goals with leaders in professional and technical education and training (PTET). The Youth Camp will run from September 19th – 25th, with students spending the last two days attending the World Congress, where they will represent the voice of the youth.
The first WFCP Youth Camp was held in Beijing in 2014 to coincide the 2014 World Congress. Lauren Beer, a Canadian college student, had this to say about the Youth Camp:
I had the incredible honour of representing Canada at the WFCP World Congress, as a delegate for the CEAIE International Youth Camp. It was a truly life-changing experience, one I will not soon forget.
Being afforded the opportunity to spend 10 days with a remarkable group of young people from around the world gave each and every one of us a new perspective of the world, education, and the power of the youth voice. I entered into the program knowing quite a bit about the world, post-secondary education and global culture. I returned home knowing more about the impact I can have on the world, and the ways in which I can make a difference for students everywhere.
The WFCP World Congress gave all of us the opportunity to share our ideas and opinions, and create a platform for dialogue, that is missing in the post-secondary education sphere. Students need to be more involved in the creation and implementation of education programs, and programs like the youth camp give youth an opportunity to share our ideas, and become part of the progression of education at the international level.
To attend the 2016 Youth Camp, please submit the application below to the WFCP Secretariat by May 29th, 2016.
